Clear Braces (Invisalign)

With a clear aligner, no one will notice your braces – all they’ll see is your incredible smile. Clear aligners are a great choice for both teens and adults, especially those who enjoy rough-and-tumble sports. They’re relatively new orthodontic treatments, which:

  • Consist of a series of 5 or more custom-made, removable clear plastic aligners
  • Are remarkably transparent
  • Don’t interfere with eating or speaking
  • Are less likely to irritate soft tissue surrounding the teeth

Esthetic Ceramic Braces

Looking for a little less metal? Ask about our esthetic ceramic braces! They pack all the power of traditional braces, yet offer a discreet, understated look. Commonly known as ceramic dental braces or tooth-colored dental braces, this option is one of several types of orthodontic braces designed to fit adult lifestyles because they:

  • Blend in with your teeth
  • Work with simple or complex tooth alignment issues
  • Are designed to resist stains
  • Have a metal arch that blends in with your brackets – to some, it may look like you're just wearing an orthodontic retainer

Traditional Metal Braces

Traditional braces are a system of brackets bonded directly to the front of the teeth. The brackets act like handles, holding arch wires that move the teeth. They are often connected with a system of bands, spacers, springs, and other mechanical appliances to gradually move and align the teeth. Traditional metal braces:

  • Offer maximum results in a minimum amount of time
  • Can fix simple or complex tooth alignment issues
  • Don’t require you to remember to put in your tray
  • Are a good choice for candidates who need extensive dental alignments
  • Work for patients who have back-tooth bite issues, need to rotate canines or premolars, or move teeth vertically

Early Interceptive Treatment (Phase I)

Orthodontic treatment in young children is known as early interceptive, or Phase I, treatments. The American Association of Orthodontists recommend a consultation for everyone by the age of 7, and intervention may begin as early as age 6 or 7. At this age, teeth are still developing, and the jaw is still growing. Early interceptive treatments address:

  • Crowding
  • Misalignment due to thumb- and finger-sucking habits
  • Guiding permanent teeth into desired positions through tooth removal or tooth-size adjustment

Comprehensive Orthodontics for Children and Adults

Comprehensive orthodontic treatment begins when patients have primary teeth, when they have a mix of primary and permanent teeth, or when all permanent teeth are in. Comprehensive orthodontic treatment:

  • Corrects identified problem(s) and restores the bite to its ideal position
  • May consist of one or more phases, depending on the nature of the problem being corrected and the goals for treatment
  • Can be coordinated with other types of dental treatment, such as oral surgery, periodontal care and restorative dental care (fillings, crowns, bridges, tooth size enhancement, and implants)
